Mission Control to Base: 2027 Passport Trailsport
Every great family road trip has a moment where the ordinary world fades away and pure exploration takes over. Honda is tapping directly into that sense of wonder with "Base to Captain," a cinematic new brand campaign starring the 2027 Honda Passport TrailSport. Watch it here.
Inspired by the Power of Dreams philosophy we hear John Cena talk about in Honda commercials, the new Passport Trailsport campaign features a young explorer with his family, letting their imagination run wild turning their weekend getaway into an otherworldly space expedition ala Interstellar!
So what’s new for the 2027 Honda Passport Trailsport?
The 4th-Gen Honda Passport has been on a tear, with the rugged TrailSport model accounting for over 80% of ALL Passport sales. Turns out, y’all really love the rugged look with the chunky off-road tires.
So for 2027, guess what? Honda is doubling down on making the Passport Trailsport as trail-ready and trail-tested as possible. This means:
More Daylight underneath: The off-road suspension has been re-engineered to increase ground clearance up to 9.65 inches, dramatically improving approach, departure, and breakover angles when tackling steep, rutted trails.
TrailWatch™ is STANDARD: The multi-angle TrailWatch™ camera system is now standard across every 2027 Passport Trailsport model, letting you see in real time what’s surrounding your vehicle.
Cold-weather Comfort: A heated steering wheel now comes standard on all Trailsport models, ideal for the winter time!

EASTER EGG SPOTTED!
Eagle-eyed Honda fans may have also spotted the Honda Base Station Prototype, a towable ultra-modern off-road RV concept that offers a glimpse into the future of backcountry camping, hitching seamlessly behind the Passport Trailsport.
Anyhoo, you should check out our current Honda Passport Trailsport lineup!

Honda rumors suggest a super-sized SUV coming soon

2026 Honda Pilot
For growing families who love the comfort and reliability of the Honda Pilot, but secretly wish for a little extra room in the back, I got a fun rumor for you.
Per an Automotive News report with an insider source, Honda appears to be ‘actively evaluating’ a new full-size, three-row flagship SUV, codenamed the “Pilot XXL”.
While the project is roughly half a decade away or so, the early blueprints paint an exciting picture of where Honda’s largest utility vehicles are heading.
The current Honda Pilot is already a road-trip favorite, but the rumored Pilot XXL would stretch an estimated eight inches, significantly expanding passenger legroom and shoulder room for the third row.

2026 Honda Pilot
Under the hood, this same insider reports that Honda might be considering a V6 engine paired with HYBRID TECHNOLOGY! This would incorporate electric drive motors to facilitate more power.
The rumor also seems to suggest that Honda may be co-developing a luxurious 3-row flagship SUV for the Acura brand at the same time, but alas it’s time to temper our expectations.
We’re strictly talking about rumors for the 2030s (shudders I feel old even saying that).
So for the time being, I suppose we’ll just have to "settle" for the current Honda Pilot. You know, the one that casually swept Kelley Blue Book’s Best Family Car, U.S. News & World Report’s Best Cars for Families, and Parents Magazine’s 10 Best Family Cars.
If you don’t feel like waiting until the next decade to upgrade your family road trips, the 2026 Pilot is ready for you right now.

Honda Racing celebrates ‘241.428’ Docuseries on speed record
Back in 2000, racing icon Gil de Ferran strapped into a Honda-powered Indy car at California Speedway and clocked an average lap speed of 241.428 mph.
More than a quarter-century later, that number remains the fastest official closed-course lap speed in racing history, unbeaten by Formula 1, NASCAR, and even modern IndyCar.
To honor de Ferran, who passed away in late 2023, Honda Racing Corporate just dropped a four-part docuseries titled “241.428” on the HRC US Youtube channel. Check it out!
