Honda Civic Hybrid wins 2026 Edmunds Top Rated Award

I know, I KNOW….hold your applause.

Who could have expected the 2026 Honda Civic hybrid to come out and do it again…..and again….and again. We’re talking four years straight for this generation Civic to have been awarded the Edmunds Top Rated honors. 

Edmunds praised the 2026 Civic Hybrid for its sharp design, class-leading safety performance, confident handling, and genuinely fun-to-drive personality.

Under the hood is Honda’s 4th-Gen two-motor hybrid system that delivers smooth, responsive power while keeping fuel stops surprisingly infrequent. I gotta say, I really appreciate how Honda nailed the efficiency of this car without feeling too clinical or like a lot of other cars out there tend to feel …dare I say… boring?

The Civic continues to be the near-perfect gateway into the Honda brand for first time buyers and longtime loyalists alike, and it remains America’s best-selling compact car since 1973.

Apparently, the editors over at Car and Driver had a busy start to 2026….mostly circling Honda.

Seven different 2026 Honda models just earned ‘Editor’s Choice' awards, meaning out of a possible 450+ vehicles that Car and Driver tested, these seven Honda models landed at the top of their classes with near-perfect scores. Yeah….that’s big time.

So here’s who made the cut for 2026’s Car and Driver’s Top honors.

1. 2026 Honda Accord recognized as Editor’s Choice for Midsize Family Sedans.

2. 2026 Civic and Civic Hybrid recognized as Editor’s Choice for Compact Cars.

3. 2026 Civic Type R (that’s the one with over 300 horsepower btw) recognized as Editor’s Choice for Sport Compact Cars.

4. 2026 Civic Si with the high-performance 6-speed manual transmission also recognized as Editor’s Choice for Sport Compact Cars

5. 2026 CR-V recognized as Editor’s Choice for Compact SUVs.

6. 2026 CR-V Hybrid recognized as Editor’s Choice for Hybrid Compact SUVs.

7. 2026 Passport recognized as Editor’s Choice for Mid-Size Two-Row SUVs.

That’s basically the entire driveway covered. You got everything from commuter darlings to family haulers and even weekend adventurers right there in this list by Car and Driver.
